November 1, 2020Mini Moto 2 "Milly"
Go back to the humble beginnings of Cornwall Blood Bikes acquired a mini moto, it was messed with, played with and used for a short time but never anything serious.
Back in 2016 our then Quartermaster, Ian Butler took the original mini moto over started painting the panels, which weren’t in too much of a good condition. Ian hunted down a new set of fairings, renewed all the fixings, put it together and got it to Lee Allen who has made a fantastic base for it to sit on so as any children that sit on it will be safe from falling off.
It was taken across to Mr Sticker in Saltash along with some photographs and let their design imagination loose on it. Mr Sticker manufactured our logo to go on the fairings as well as the BLOOD decals. Mr Sticker has been involved with the Charity in the past, mainly through the efforts of Alan Chowing, one of our volunteers.
In the background, Ian ordered a motorcycle battery, cable, industrial plug, the ‘Blues & Two’s’ and a siren that sits under the seat and time was spent wiring, bolting and testing all the bits fitted to it and a final check for sharp edges.
She then was ready for service and a lovely replacement to a proper Fleet Bike, for the smaller children that can sometimes be visibly intimidated by the sheer size of the real thing.
This original mini moto did many miles at fundraising events across the County and eventually saw better days because of it being such a success there was no question of acquiring a further mini moto.
The new addition to the fleet got taken to Matt and his team at Mill Signs, Redruth who livery and work their particular brand of magic on all our CBB fleet bikes.
Matt and the team are so supportive of us as a charity and we only felt it right to name this one “Milly” after Mill Signs Ltd.
We hope that “Milly” will continue to draw people to us at events, so as we can continue getting our message of what we do, out there.
