Well what a day for Cornwall Blood Bikes as our volunteers attended the 32nd Martin Jennings Memorial run. The day saw an early start with Jayne Penlerick, Richard Taylor, Steve Mason, Tim Cookman, Steve Moss, Si Oates, John Penlerick, Mark Horscroft, Brian Reynolds and his lovely wife Sarah who donned a CBB high viz to help on the most spectacular of September days and the scene was set for the perfect ride.
We were one of two chosen charities alongside our fellow Cornish charity Cornwall Air Ambulance.
Bikes started to arrive shortly after 08:30 when the gates opened, on these gates were volunteers from both charities directing bikes, and taking the admission payments, where all riders were given a special commemorative wristband to mark the occasion.
Every single penny paid through riders entry fees of £5 per bike, and public donations on the day, went directly to two life saving and life changing charities and for us this is an incredible amount which goes directly back onto our fleet of 12 BMWR1200 RTPs which have the pleasure of service our NHS partners and the people of Cornwall.
Between 1200-1400 bikes took part and as well as being a spectacular sight a phenomenal £5,806.17 was raised with each charity receiving £2,903.08.
Thank you to our colleagues at Cornwall Air Ambulance for a great day working alongside each other but most of all to Dave Saunby for organising these rides that benefit all charities but for most importantly nominating our charity to be a beneficiary. Thank you to everyone who took part and showed such incredible support for two life saving and life changing charities.
