On Friday 24th August 2018 on an inclimate evening representatives from Cornwall Blood Bikes gathered at the stunning Cornish historic location of Pendennis Castle for a buffet reception where we were joined by over one hundred brethren and their wives from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Masons of Cornwall.
This very special evening was to celebrate the official presentation of a brand new BMW 1200 RT-P response motorcycle.
Cornwall Blood Bikes were so delighted to discover that we had been the very lucky beneficiary of money donated by The Mark Benevolent Fund on behalf of the The Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons.
The funding for these awards came from the Brethren of the Grand Lodge of The Mark Master Masons who took part in the Mark Benevolent Charity Walk held on Saturday 6th May 2017 around the Royal Parks of London.
Cornwall being represented by the Provincial Grand Master for the Mark Master Masons of Cornwall, Mr. Kevin Hicks, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master Mr Peter Johns, Mrs Carole Johns, Mrs Denise Trevains and Mr. Simon Trevains.
The final sum raised far exceeded expectation, raising the astonishing sum of £437, 934.
The Trustees of the Mark Benevolent Fund decided to announce towards the end of 2017 that the Fund would work in partnership with the Nationanwide Association of Blood Bikes (NABB) and support nationally 17 Blood Bike Charities with a donation of £300,000 for the purchase of 9 motorcycles and 8 blood cars. This came as The Mark Benevolent Fund celebrates its 150th Anniversary.
For us as a charity we would like to acknowledge our sincere gratitude to The Mark Benevolent Fund and The Cornwall Mark Master Masons, as an organisation for the support and tireless work and commitment you give to not just charities like ourselves, but other fantastic local charities and good causes supporting them with donations to enhance the work carried out in our local communities.
We would also like to say a thank you to Darren Coleman-Heald, Charities Manager from The Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons for travelling such a distance to Cornwall to be with us for such a special evening.
Darren presented various items including a framed certificate to our chairman James Forder, signed by H.R.H Duke of Kent, with Right Worshipful Bro. Kevin Hicks, Provincial Grand Master making his presentations to the charity.
A heartfelt thank you must also go to Trenton Spear, from Pendennis Castle for all his help and support for the event, and to local Cornish businesses Snazzy Balloons for providing the decorations, Kerra’s Catering & Helford Hog Roasts for an outstanding buffet and yet again to DJ in Cornwall for the tech equipment.
We are proud and privileged to provide the service we do, and we look forward immensely to taking delivery of our brand new BMW 1200 RT-P
“Mark Mason” will proudly became a member of our fleet and has on gone onto develop our service in further and in turn help and serve the wider communities of Cornwall.
