November 3, 2015The Rat Pack Returns
The Rat Pack Returns at the Falmouth Pavilions on Saturday 11th July was the first Charity Fundraiser that the Cornwall Blood Bikes (CBB) have ever staged. Tempus Leisure supplied the venue which made the entertainment more authentic for the 60’s style music as it was held in the old theatre and was nothing short of a tremendous success.
Spearheaded by the brilliant organisational skills of the charities Fundraising Manager, Mark Holroyd and his vivacious wife Joy, who has put in many hours and sleepless nights behind the scenes to make sure this event has happened. The Charity riders were in support by raising public awareness and selling tickets.
With gentlemen observing the ‘black tie’ dress code and ladies looking beautiful in evening dresses, the evening started with drinks, moving on to a two course meal and then the show/entertainment commenced. It wasn’t just song after song but an interactive show piece that involved al the audience, several lucky ladies were serenaded by Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr did a tap dance routine which everyone enjoyed. The Rat Pack sang a wide range of well-known and some unfamiliar songs from the original Rat Pack years which had the audience up on their feet dancing at the front of the stage and in the aisles. These three guys that make up the Rat Pack Returns were top notch and are highly recommended.
The CCB flagship motorbike was on display all evening for the guests and it wasn’t long before the ladies were asking if they could sit on the bike, so with preserving a certain amount of modesty and others just straddling the bike with no fear, our photographer Rachael happily snapped away as many happy guests enjoyed the experience of sitting on the Blood Bike.. Wine can be a wonderful relaxing medium.
In making this event a success, our thanks go out to our long standing supporters, Darren Berrey and family of the Chapter One Diner (CBB adopted base), Steve Damerell of Damerells Motorcycles, Garry Williams of Williams Coaches (also a Blood Biker), who laid on a free coach for the north coast area which was gratefully appreciated by us and all that used it. Thanks too, go to Bob Mosley, Auctioneer, for running our auction. Our thanks also goes out to the staff of Tempus who worked behind the scenes to make the event run smoothly.
The event raised a fantastic £1947 which will go towards keeping the Charity motorcycles on the road supporting the service we provide to the NHS.
