When the charity was formed back in 2011 as Cornwall Freewheelers, the Duchy’s Volunteer Blood Bike service was born and over the years the charity has taken baby steps to quietly and conscientiously provide a professional service.
In 2015 a rebrand was needed and the new era of Cornwall Blood Bikes beckoned.
In that time we have always had wonderful support from greater established Blood Bike charities across the Country and the opportunities to purchase excellent condition second-hand BMW 1200 RTP bikes.
Our BMW 7 was purchased around the Summer of 2017 1st july 2017 as an excellent second-hand bike with 71,821 miles on the clock from our colleagues at Severn Freewheelers EVS; the regional Blood Bike group covering Gloucestershire, Hereford & Worcester & North Wilts.
Our then CBB Chair at the time Toby Best headed up across the Tamar and up Country with our Fleet Manager John to bring BMW 7 home to serve the people of Cornwall.
This was a special journey as Toby who along with our Mr Mark host Rider Cam TV
https://ridercamtv.com which is everything about motorbikes!
So if you want to learn more about our BMW 1200 RTP’s then please click the link to Rider Cam TV and listen to Toby explain these beasts of a machine.
In 2024 our BMW 7 has achieved 167,000 miles with 100, 000 miles serving the very good people of Cornwall.
In October 2024 it was discovered that hidden parts of the frame were badly corroded and as it was uneconomical to repair then this vehicle was reluctantly retired from the fleet at 167,231 miles.
It still remains the highest total mileage bike that we have had in our fleet.
